Update: The Great Stone

This is a reworking of an older piece.  The original was mostly just a sketch in an attempt to capture the idea as quickly as possible.  This is more finished than the other, but now that I'm looking at, I'm wondering what kind of painting it would make...or a sculpture.  LOL!  Ah the meanderings of art.  I suspect that a painting would take on a radically different style.  I would also add color.  Hmmm....there may be another post of this in future.

Interior Life From the Archives: The Well

Here is another piece from the Interior Life set.  At the time I drew this, there were several circumstances in my life that were endangering my emotional well being (no pun intended) and creative capacity.  A couple of other things inform this piece as well: 1) I have always had a fascination / fear of tornadoes and 2) rarely do line drawings of tornadoes embrace the chaos and ferocity of the event.  I tried to capture that here.  If I succeeded, I do not know.  That is decided by your eyes.

My goal with all of the Interior Life pieces was to try and capture the essences of my personal myths.  Moments, feelings, thoughts and their impact on me.  I hope that comes across , if not on the surface, then in the symbolic substructure of the pieces.

THE VISITORS

I drew these guys this past summer
just before everything in my life started changing dramatically.
Mysterious figures trekking over a mountainous landscape.
The image kind of came upon me while I was at work and it had a great urgency to it
so I did a quick sketch with what I had available.
This may end up as a painting.
They have large silvery bubble faces.
I think they may be Space men...
or maybe those are just weird environment suits...
or Dr. Who Monsters.

Update 012714:

Over at Zombie Bites, this piece was presented in Exhumed and reinvestigated with color in January of 2014.  Check out the Exhumed image here.

Zombies ho!

Here are a couple of Zombie sketches I did awhile back. {Sharpie of the Living Dead}

Eyes

These Eyes popped up in the back of my head (okay THAT sounds strange!) and I had to draw them out. The colors are a little off, but the essence is there. {Sharpie with Love!}

Pharaoh

A strange Pharaoh Franken sketch. {Sharpie Oh Yeah!}

The Nature of Masculine

A very old piece...contemplating the Solar and Lunar aspects of the male personality. {colored pencil and marker. I suspect there was Sharpie involved also}.
