Weekly Mandala: The Worn Cloth of Age

So I loved this life from afar,
relishing the sunset lighting
of all these years outside.
I wish only that it could feel
how it looks from here,
but I was too tender
for this place of hard choices.
Now its flames envelope me,
eating away all I wanted to be.
As the tatters shred and burn,
more light shines through.
A solace, I guess,
gifted from the relentless lord of time.
As each layer peels away,
my past love,
my past life,
my hope crumbles like sand castles
until there are no cliffs left to stand upon.
I'm floating out
into the silence
into the endless grey.
more light shines through.
A solace, I guess,
gifted from the relentless lord of time.
As each layer peels away,
my past love,
my past life,
my hope crumbles like sand castles
until there are no cliffs left to stand upon.
I'm floating out
into the silence
into the endless grey.
