From the Archives: Hawk

This sketch is a good example of the strange amalgamation of my spiritual explorations and my interest in super heroes.  Hawk was a totem that came to me frequently.

From The Archives: Grasshopper

Here is a psychedelic sketch of a grasshopper man.  Surprisingly, Grasshopper was one of the most difficult totems I ever worked with.  It was often like sitting with a flame under my seat, never knowing exacting when it was the best time to jump.

Here's an older sketch that's an amalgamation of my super hero and totemic work.  No relation to the band of the same name.  I don't think I'd heard their music at this point.

The Totemic Stag

Here is a Horned God image for the tail end of  Lughnasadh / Lammas (August 1st), first of the three harvest sabbats in the Wheel of the year.  In the end, another image of Baphomet, this time presented as a totemic Stag.  Another nod here as well to Susan Seddon Boulet.

From the Archives: Tiger Me

The year I created this, the Tiger had begun appearing as totem for me.  In an attempt to understand this energy, I incorporated it into my artwork.  This is an example.

I had a strange dream at the time of a Tiger leaping and each of its leaps were a dramatic change in my life.  The last leap involved leaping into another man's yard where the Tiger turned into a tabby cat.  I had the impression that he was my lover.  Which was odd at the time as I was single.

The Tiger is generally a solitary animal and they hunt silently.  One of many totems telling me to keep my big mouth shut.  LOL.  The others are Owl and Leopard.  Also not the only totem to tell me to work in darkness.  I wasn't aware previously of their fondness for water....seeing them swimming is a strange and wonderful thing.
