New Gallery: The Modo Cogitari

Please check out the new gallery of my abstract psychedelic work, the Modo Cogitari.  My regularly posted new abstract work will now be under this new header.  Although it is not yet a complete catalog of the abstract work I have posted to date, I'll be updating it regularly.  Check it out and let me know what you think.  Enjoy!

Examination and Evolution

The direction of my artwork has been changing dramatically throughout the 2013 year.  Most of those changes have been taking place over at my Dark Art blog, Zombie BitesTrail of Breadcrumbs has remained fallow during much of that time with only minimal posting.

From the Archives: Revelations

Although there is upwards of five to seven years between these two pieces, I am posting them together.  The piece with the ball was created first and the second piece with the spiral was created in contemplation of the first.  My original thought with these was an animation sequence.  However animation has never had quite the pull for me so they remain these static images.

This will be the last From the Archives post for awhile.  I'm restructuring My blogs and trying to determine the best place to post my different kinds of artwork.

Modo Cogitari: Leaving Krypton

When the world crumbles,
regret is the only gravity against leaving
and it is as empty as the air
yet still,
it taints every breath.

From the Archives: She Sings

There was a period of time in the late 90's that a majority of my artwork was designed to be viewed under ultraviolet light.  I was fascinated by the intensity and contrast of color available.  I created many pieces of artwork during that time, many of which I no longer possess.

From the Archives: Her Hair

This was a graphite sketch I did from an image of Anna Paquin.  I think it was in an issue of Rolling Stone or some such.  I do not recall.  I altered the hair a bit.  I think at the time I was imagining her as the base for a super heroine who had some kind of tentacled shadow power that usually manifested in her hair.

From the Archives: Superhero Cape Study

A quick superhero cape study from my traveling sketchbook.  I probably did this one at work on lunch break or some such.  Regardless of Edna Mode's warnings, if I could fly, I'd wear a cape because it would look so friggin' cool.

New Abstract: Conjunctio Cern Janus

Here's another piece involving Cernunnos, but this time with an added context.  It had never occurred to me before than the name Cernunnos nearly contains within it the latin pronunciation for the two headed Roman god of doorways and transitions, Janus (Yah-noose).  This idea spawned this piece of art.  When I typed the latin "cern ianus" into google translate just now, it gave me "You see Janus".  Interesting.

From the Archives: Beard Sketch

This was a beard study for a comic book story about a man trapped on an island.  I ended up with a different style, but this was a strong second.

From The Archives: The Veil

Here's some more recent brush play in Adobe Photoshop.  This one harkens back to an older physical style I've used before with Berol Prismacolor pencils.  However this piece has more of a watercolor feel to it due to the brushes I used to create it.

From The Archives: Madame O. Sketch

Here's a more recent image of Madame O. from playtime in Adobe Photoshop.  Everytime I think I've found all the things to enjoy about Photoshop, there's another filter or another set of brushes I've never used before.  :-)

From The Archives: Vison Symbols

Here's a more recent sketch I created while playing with brushes in Adobe Photoshop.  You may see more in this kind of style in the future.  I am very fond of the painterly style that these brushes allow.

From the Archives: Faerie

Here is a faerie sketch from a long time ago.  Never felt I quite got the grasp of the delicacy of faerie features.  My faeries always ended up chunky.
